The outside provision really enhances the space available for play as it offers all children a much bigger space to explore. There are many opportunities for physical development – especially to practice gross motor skills (including shoulder, elbow, wrist movements) helpful in their development as little writers (e.g. basket-ball hoops, large sweeping brushes, wheelbarrows, climbing opportunities, large sandpit for digging and pouring). A mud kitchen, a reading den sharing core texts and water play ensured the outdoor area offered opportunities for learning across many parts of the curriculum.
